* F U S S E N *

We met up with Adam & Kelley and made our way to Fussen. They rented a car and we went on the Autobahn! It was actually a huge letdown when we realized we were only going about 90 mph. We stopped and looked at a random church and also saw Schloss Linderhof along the way. It’s funny because King Ludwig II decided that he wanted a grotto built, so of course, the King gets what he wants! It was inspired by the Venus Grotto from Wagner's "Tannhäuser". We walked through and it had stalagmites that were made out of plaster, but that actually looked real! There was even a little pond with a rowboat inside the grotto! Crazy.

Then we arrived in the tiny town of Fussen. The next day, we went to these two amazing castles! The first was Hohenschwangau. This was a tiny castle, but very pretty. Then we took a bus ride to Neuschwantsein, which was beautiful! The castle in Disney World is actually modeled after this castle. In between our visiting the second castle, we went up on this huge, suspended bridge. The planks were all rickety and it was pretty scary. Matt, Kelley, and Adam climbed up this huge cliff and were basically hanging off it just to get a cool picture...I thought they are crazy! ;)

at the grotto, which was made for king ludwig ii. right next to this was schloss linderhof.
